There are many surgical and non-surgical treatments for hair restoration but one of the latest to emerge is laser hair restoration therapy which uses an infrared low-level cool laser light. This is a non-surgical method

How Laser Hair Restoration Therapy Works

It has been known for many years that sunlight is beneficial in aiding the speed of hair growth as it improves the blood supply to the hair follicles and which are stimulated by the red light contained in natural sunlight. Laser hair restoration therapy provides the important infusion of this red light which improves the hairs vitality and serves as a repair agent. The lasers used are what is known as “soft” and produce a small amount of energy; less than a small light bulb in fact.

Generally the laser hair restoration therapy is delivered by sitting beneath a hood (similar to hair dryers found in ladies hair salons) which covers your scalp and the infrared laser light is then rotated and delivered to the scalp.

The Next Miracle Cure?

A study found a 93% increase in hair among the respondents using the laser hair restoration therapy in the study although this solution is not effective once the hair shaft root has died and if you are looking at laser hair restoration you should ideally meet the following critera: - You have not suffered hair loss for more than 5 years - The area of baldness is fairly small (10 cm) - The hair loss is confined to the top of the head - The bald area contains many fine, baby like, hairs

It is too early to tell whether laser hair restoration therapy will be the next miracle cure but the studies undertaken to date have shown encouraging results
